FD Calculator
A Fixed Deposit (FD) is a safe, guaranteed-return investment where you lock a lump sum for a fixed tenure at a fixed interest rate. Interest is usually compounded quarterly. Use this calculator to see exactly how much your deposit will grow by maturity.
How is FD maturity calculated?
With compound interest: A = P × (1 + r/n)^(n×t), where P is the principal, r is the annual rate, n is the compounding frequency per year (usually 4 for quarterly), and t is the tenure in years.
FD rates and tenure
Bank FD rates in India range from 6% to 7.5% p.a., with senior citizens earning an extra 0.25–0.75%. Tenures run from 7 days to 10 years. Longer tenures usually offer higher rates.
Tax on FD interest
FD interest is fully taxable at your income-tax slab. Banks deduct TDS at 10% if interest exceeds ₹40,000 per year (₹50,000 for senior citizens). Submit Form 15G/15H if your income is below the taxable limit.
